Spring is finally starting to show itself in Southwest Colorado. The winter season has been off the hook. More than 40 feet of snow already with our snowiest month still ahead. However, winter has loosened it's tight grip for the last three days as the spring sunshine has reminder us all that the warmth of summer isn't too far away.

Today I took the day off from skiing and broke out my road bike for a 30 mile ride around Durango. 3-4 feet of snow still covers the ground but the roads are dry and this was the cycling window as cold weather and snow are slated to return with a vengeance come Monday.

The surrounding mountains are cloaked in their finest winter wear and the green grass of summer is buried beneath a copious mantle of white. However, the calendar shows that March is a day away and by the end of March things usually leans toward the longer warm days of spring.

Back to the slopes tomorrow with a photo shoot at Wolf Creek Ski Area. Nice to ride my bike today and head back into winter come morning. I hope all your adventures are keeping you honest and excited with all this amazing life has to offer.

Time to sit back with a hot cup of Vanilla Creme to read the paper and watch the sun set over the mighty Rocky Mountain of my backyard.

Enjoy the ride-Sven

Another great day. Dropped the kids off at school and flew around the mountains scoping out some lines to ski this spring. Back home in time to ski the steep face across the street from the house. Dropping in during alpenglow skiing on snow so orange that I felt I was carving a pumpkin shell with my skis. Left my mark on another blank Colorado canvass.

Still feels like winter even though the calendar now says March. Drinking a steaming hot cup of Kona coffee right now looking over some topographical map to dial in tomorrows adventures. Hope life is smiling on you!

Leaving for Alaska tomorrow morning. Spent the last few weeks climbing peaks, skiing backcountry, and enjoying some fine spring skiing. Even been on the road bike a bit. Flying from Denver to Seattle to Anchorage and then driving to Alyeska Resort for a bit before heli skiing with Chucagh Powder Guides. Hope we get some good weather so I can send you all some pics.

Until then enjoy the ride!

Best Wishes-Sven
